About
Born and raised in New Hampshire, Kimberly was exposed to a lot of life lessons. She developed an interest in conserving the wildlife and natural world at a young age. She left New Hampshire after graduating high school with the one that stole her heart and she became a mom. She then took a photography class from New York Institute, started using online galleries and then went on to sell her art through print-on-demand companies. Believe it or not, this was how Kimberly discovered the internet, as she did not have such things until her 20s.
My first taste of photography was when I was able to take a photography class at my high school. I was able to buy my first SLR in 2002. It was a Nikon N65. In September 2004, I enrolled in the at-home photography course from New York Institute of Photography. And in the few years that followed, my artwork has made it’s way onto various print-on-demand sites and portfolio websites. Eventually, I put together a little website to show what I create with my cameras.
I purchased my first DSLR in 2007, it was a Pentax K-10D. With the digital camera, my photo collection became unrestricted and the archive has increased significantly. My favorite subjects to photograph are animals, landscapes and flowers.
I like to pick up old cameras here and there to add to my photography gear collection. I own vintage and newer Polaroid Instant Cameras. I also have a vintage Kodak Duaflex, which I use to create Through-the-Viewfinder photographs (T-t-V). I also have a Pentax Optio to have some fun with at beaches. One day I hope to add a panoramic camera to my collection, and a serious underwater camera. My dream camera would be a Hasselblad DSLR.
John Muir, Ansel Adams, the Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom Documentaries and other wildlife documentaries, plus the National Geographic Magazines were helpful in fueling my interest in the natural world and photography.
